Syrah 870

Born in the shadow of Monte Emilius and Becca di Nona—two peaks that tower above the city of Aosta—Syrah 870 finds its unique expression at 800 meters above sea level. The wine is divided into three lots and vinified separately: one matures in French oak barriques after fermenting in large oak vats, while the other two ferment and age on the skins in amphora and Tuscan orcio. The result is a deep ruby red wine, rich and velvety on the palate, with elegant aromas of blackberries, blackcurrant, and black pepper.

Appearance

Clear, deep ruby red

Nose

The aromatic profile is broad and complex, led by notes of forest fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, interwoven with spicy hints of black pepper and licorice. The fresh bouquet is enriched by delicate mineral nuances that reflect the alpine terroir.

Palate

Rich and velvety on the palate, supported by a well-integrated tannic structure. Good freshness and sapidity balance the wine’s full body, leading to a long, persistent finish with sweet spice and fruity returns.

Food Pairings

It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roasted lamb, braised dishes, and game. Its structure and complexity also make it an excellent companion for aged hard cheeses and boldly flavored alpine cuisine. Rich risottos and porcini mushroom dishes further enhance its depth and aromatic finesse.
